The American depository receipts (ADRs) of Honda Motor (HMC) experienced a 2.5% decline on Friday following the recall of 1.2 million SUVs and minivans by the Japanese automaker, due to potential complications with the rearview camera.
As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an unreliable communication coaxial cable connector might hinder the display of the camera image on the dashboard.
The recall encompasses Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2024, Passport SUVs from 2019 to 2023, and Pilot SUVs from 2019 to 2022.
Around two years ago, Honda had extended the warranty for the affected vehicles. It stated that it has received approximately 274,000 claims between May 2017 and June 8 of this year. The company affirmed that there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries associated with the mentioned issue.
To ensure proper connectivity of the audio display unit, the NHTSA specified that dealers will install an enhanced cable harness connecting the existing display audio and vehicle terminal connectors. Additionally, a straightening cover will be placed over the vehicle cable connector.
